Marsha of Nemaris

#17 of the Leading Ladies series.

Though none of the mermaids who live near the Nemaris Islands are directly related, Marsha's duty is to raise Acadia and act as her guardian.  She doesn't have many hobbies other than stargazing and sunbathing, but otherwise most of her time is spent making sure that Acadia keeps up with her lessons and doesn't do anything that she shouldn't be - though this job becomes much tougher once Thomas and his fellow crewmen arrive.

Marsha was added originally as a character that filled out the group but had little to add in the story department.  Her role as Acadia's guardian became necessary once I realized that Cynthia was too enthralled in being a seer for Thomas and the crew towards Epoth's involvement, and that having a third mermaid on 'staff' as it were would have someone around to keep an eye on Acadia.  She later found a role as Acadia's concious as well. 
As for her design, well, it shouldn't be too obvious that I like mermaids that have pink scales and brown hair.  Shelly may have originated from Marsha, as I can't remember which character came first.
