Yellowstone Rainbow

I always thought for the longest time that Yellowstone meant there was a lack of outhouses along the river; no, it refers to the color of the rock along the river, which is primarily limestone and granite.

(insert rimshot here)

Anyways, this was taken in Yellowstone National Park after a long hike down the side of yet another cliff, one where I saw people taking their kids who were still riding inside of strollers as well as guiding their blind kids to to the bottom.

Did I mention the path was on THE SIDE OF A CLIFF?!? Seriously! The path decended at least three hundred feet, and it was a precarious pathway - if you slipped, they'd need a helicopter to extract you, lest you didn't fall into the river and over the falls.

Back to the photograph? This is fantastic. The view from the brink puts you right at the edge, looking down towards the shallow bottom covered in spray and sunlight. Until the day or two later, this was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.

If only there was an elevator to get back up in a timely manner. Going down was hard, but getting up sucked ass.
